Blockchain has been around for about two decades and received tremendous attention, yet its promise to change society hasn’t evolved at all. All technological developments around blockchain can be divided into two categories. The first is intentional or unintentional yet false presentations, of promises that are not technologically or economically feasible, and in reality carry too little to make any difference. The second is making the chain support more sophisticated and efficient ways of transferring coins. Decentralization of currency is one promise for society, but how else can blockchain significantly improve our lives?
Blockchain is a new level of decentralization. And the thing that needs decentralization the most, is not currency, but decision making. We live in an illusion of democracy in which society tends to believe it can create its own path forward. But in reality society as a whole has very little say, and the majority of decisions are taken by a very small minority. Most importantly: we can’t even control how we are controlled, as we can’t change the rules for changing the rules. There is no guarantee that, say, absolute democracy, is the best way – but we can’t even tweak the way decisions are being made, let alone the decisions themselves. We can speak of it, yes, but we have no realistic power of change.
It is not that we willfully chose this situation. It’s just we know no other way.
And in fact blockchain as for itself gives no other way. In order to fully solve this problem we need a technological breakthrough which is orders of magnitudes greater than the breakthrough of blockchain. We need a futuristic system powered by the real deal of AI that will allow us to collaboratively decide for ourselves including how decisions are being made. What we need, is Tau.
Tau Net implements a novel paradigm of collaborative decision making rooted in an obscure branch of AI called Logical AI. But even Logical AI is far from supporting a decentralized network fully and effectively controlled by its users.
